Girlfriends CANCELED… say it aint so?
February 15th, 2008
The CW Network has pulled the plug on my all time favorite show “GirlFriends“. Sources say that the show was inline to becoming the longest running African American sitcom in televeision history.
Longer than Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Martin, A Different World, The Jeffersons, etc. It is currently tied for longest running African American sitcom of all time with The Cosby Show. And the source says that ninth year was something Mara Brock Akil (the show’s creator and executive producer) really wanted to accomplish and something that the team feels they should have been given an opportunity to do.
Many are saying that its an unfortunate result of the Writer’s Guild Association strike. Others say Jill Marie Jones (Toni Childs) leaving was the biggest complaint that the cast and crew encountered with the show.

Monday Nights back-to-back episodes are the last shows that will ever air.
